A 2a-year-old boy, comatose and having fits after an overdose of imipramine, suffered a respiratory and cardiac arrest from which he was successfully resuscitated. A severe tachyarrhythmia was well controlled by intravenous practolol, and it is suggested that practolol is the drug of choice in this situation.
